Workday, a leader in enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, and Alight Solutions, a leading cloud-based provider of integrated digital human capital and business solutions, today announced that KONGSBERG has successfully deployed Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) across key parts of the business globally.
KONGSBERG is a leading global technology corporation delivering mission-critical solutions with extreme performance for customers that operate under challenging conditions. It serves organizations across the deep-sea, digital, defense, merchant marine, oil and gas, fisheries, aerospace, and space industries through its three business units; Maritime, Defense and Aerospace, and Digital.
The business wanted to streamline its HR processes across all three divisions to ensure greater visibility and insights to develop a global people strategy across its international workforce of 11,000 employees in 43 countries. To ensure global consistency, it selected Workday HCM as its global HR system and engaged Alight to deploy the solution around the world.
Workday HCM is a unified system that helps organizations make faster decisions, gain operational visibility and build effective teams.
With Workday HCM, KONGSBERG will gain:
- Automation of processes by delivering intelligent automation to focus the employees’ attention on more essential tasks.
- Greater flexibility by offering a business process framework which enables HR to configure and change process flows easily.
- Insights in real-time by merging transactional and analytical data in the same system and enabling users to drill into data.
- Personalized experiences by delivering machine learning capabilities to enable smarter decisions.
Alight was selected as KONGSBERG’s implementation partner based on its Workday deployment capabilities and expertise. Alight’s dedicated team of consultants worked in partnership with KONGSBERG to ensure a strong understanding of the business’ corporate, departmental, geographical, and technological needs, allowing it to guide KONGSBERG through the implementation process to arrive at a solution that meets the group’s specific requirements.
The system, which went live in early June 2022, means KONGSBERG now has a more efficient approach to HR operations across its global business, giving it the information it needs to inform its overarching people strategy. The Alight team will continue to support KONGSBERG operationally following the smooth Workday deployment and system go-live.
“We are on a mission to streamline technology across our global business to drive efficiencies and support our business growth plans,” said Kristian Holmberg, KONGSBERG IT, Project Manager. “Our HR system was the first step on this journey and the successful implementation has set a high benchmark for subsequent initiatives.”
“The Workday system, implemented with exceptional support from Alight, perfectly meets our needs, offering insights into our people that we can use to develop our global people strategy, enabling us to attract and retain talent, and drive onward business growth.”
"Businesses are driven by advancing digitalization, new work models, and increased customer and employee demands. We are delighted that Kongsberg is relying on Workday solutions and Alight as an implementation partner to fully realize its growth potential,” said Karin Hagman, Regional Vice President Nordics at Workday.
“For multinational organizations such as KONGSBERG, having insights right across the company is like gold dust. Understanding your employees, wherever they are, and recognizing the differences that exist, ensures KONGSBERG is well placed to adapt its people strategy to support, attract and retain employees,” said Mads Kragh, Regional Director North Europe, Professional Services at Alight. “Using our knowledge of Workday and working in close partnership with KONGSBERG, we were able to arrive at our common goal – an HR system that meets each of the individual group´s needs to take the business forward.”
