Alight Solutions, a leader in benefits, payroll and cloud solutions, is pleased to announce that Paulette Dodson, general counsel and corporate secretary, has been named to Crain’s 2019 Notable General Counsels list. In its first year, Crain’s list recognizes top general counsels in public and private companies and non-profit organizations for their achievements and contributions to their community.
As a member of Alight’s executive leadership team, Paulette has been instrumental in providing strategic advice and counsel on critical issues including board governance and M&A activity.

Before joining Alight, Paulette was senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of PetSmart, Inc. During her career, she also served in various roles at Sara Lee Corporation, including general counsel and corporate secretary. Paulette also enjoyed a 14-year career at Tribune Company where she was assistant general counsel of publishing, as well as general counsel to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and the Daily Press in Virginia.
Paulette serves on the board of Mather Lifeways, a not-for-profit dedicated to creating senior residences and other aging-well ventures and the Board of Trustees of Phoenix Country Day School, a college prep school in Arizona. Paulette also recently joined the board of the Better Government Association, a non-partisan, nonprofit news organization and civic advocate working for transparency, efficiency and accountability in government in Chicago and across Illinois. Paulette was the 2012 recipient of the Legal Aid Society’s William H. Avery Award for Equal Access to Justice, recognizing her work in the Chicagoland legal community.
