Alight's implementation of the 'Workday' HR system ensures that CM.com has no expansion concerns around HR or global payroll services.
The growth of CM.com
Gilbert Gooijers and Jeroen van Glabbeek launched CM.com in Breda, Netherlands, over two decades ago in 1999. They were leveraging SMS messages to communicate messaging to festival and nightclub goers at the time. The company is now a global leader in cloud software for payment and communication. CM.com has developed rapidly in recent years, expanding from 50 to over 900 employees in 23 countries in less than ten years. Many people may recognise CM.com when buying festival tickets and from the CM.com Circuit Zandvoort - The home of Dutch racing.
The new HR system
Alongside the expansion of the business, CM.com’s HR business process was run via a local provider; however, due to the nature of the global scale needed, the local provider became insufficient in their needs. Therefore, Alight implemented Workday as their new permanent partner for their global HR system. We rolled out the new workday system in August 2021, and CM.com started to use this in January 2022.

Workday implemented by Alight
Alight is a current technology partner of Workday, completing more than 800 Workday projects worldwide and has more than 1,300 certified consultants available who can successfully lead implementation projects. Alight also supports its customers in optimising your systems.
Maayke Kappert: “It is sometimes not clear to me what the difference is between the people at Workday and Alight. I can't really give them a bigger compliment: they are so at home in the software, and can really help us with everything.”
CM.com now has a solid foundation for their HR system. They are currently using the HCM functionality. Alight is working with CM.com on their Workday technology roadmap so they can continue to use new functionality as the company evolves.
Increase in engagement
HR has its own customs and culture in different countries and regions, says Maayke. “The old Dutch system did not get the involvement in other countries that we were looking for. That involvement has visibly improved, our people greatly appreciate that they were included early in the process.” The worldwide adoption of the software provides more efficiency and insights. “And that's purely because compliance is increasing. Our colleagues work more often and better with this new software.”
A good partner like Alight was indispensable in implementing Workday so quickly, Maayke continues. “Especially because we had set up a team that had to take on these tasks in addition to their day-to-day activities. The good help from Alight was therefore much appreciated. They work in a very structured way and created a good plan. The whole process was so smooth! Alight's consultants have all of Workday's knowledge, so we didn't notice the differences between the two parties throughout this entire process.”
