Alight, Inc. (NYSE: ALIT), a leading cloud-based human capital technology and services provider, today announced Xan Daniels, global inclusion and diversity leader at Alight, has joined the board of directors for the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Illinois chapter.

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness and their families. Daniels’ appointment represents Alight’s ongoing commitment and collaboration with NAMI to help make quality mental health support available to every Illinois resident and help shape effective strategies that amplify the voice of mental health awareness.

“The services and resources NAMI provides are critical, especially when you consider that one in five Americans experience a mental illness each year1,” said Daniels. “I look forward to serving on NAMI Illinois’ board to help end the stigma around mental health and expand the resources available to the community.  At Alight, we believe that while one in five colleagues may struggle with mental health issues, the other four are family and friends. Which is why we are dedicated to helping employers create an environment of total wellbeing through our platform, to provide employees and their families with critical support in their greatest time of need to allow them to heal, thrive and fulfill their true potential.”

As Alight’s global inclusion and diversity leader, Daniels’ has been pivotal to ensuring the company’s focus on inclusion and diversity is visible, valued and sustained across the company. Part of these efforts include overseeing Alight’s commitment to breaking the stigma around mental health through the company’s solutions and comprehensive content and services powered by Alight Worklife®, its employee experience platform, to further engage employees and dependents across the many dimensions of wellbeing.

Most recently, Daniels’ co-led Alight’s Inclusion Council and sponsored the launch of nine colleague-led communities and colleague listening sessions aimed at fostering a culture where all Alight colleagues feel valued and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Her 19-year career at Alight and its predecessor organizations has spanned various roles, including serving as the test management global practice leader for Alight’s Professional Services business.

"We’re so pleased to have Xan join our NAMI Illinois Board of Directors,” said Andy Wade, executive director at NAMI Illinois. “NAMI Illinois has made equity the driver of all our work, and will benefit greatly from her years of experience leading diversity and inclusion initiatives and her deep commitment to making quality mental health support available to every Illinoisan across the state and beyond."

Daniels was matched with NAMI Illinois through the Board Leadership Institute, a partnership of the United Way of Metro Chicago and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School Center for Nonprofit Management that prepares philanthropic business leaders to serve on the boards of essential Illinois nonprofits.
