Alight’s latest Employee Mindset Study paints a concerning picture: Employees are struggling with overall wellbeing, financial stability, and access to healthcare. Many employees report postponing medical care due to affordability issues or regretting healthcare decisions due to lack of guidance. These challenges highlight a growing need for more personalized support from employers.  

The study also found that employees are increasingly open to AI-powered solutions — two-thirds are willing to share more information in exchange for personalized guidance. With 80% actively seeking customized messaging and coaching, the demand for AI-driven benefits solutions is clearer than ever.  

The growing complexity of benefits  

In response to employee wellbeing concerns, employers have rapidly expanded benefits programs. But this surge in offerings — an average of 22 point solutions per organization — has led to overwhelming complexity. Employees struggle to navigate a maze of resources, and as HR teams reevaluate costs, consolidation and simplification have become a priority.  

Rather than adding new programs, many organizations are rationalizing existing offerings, creating “one-stop-shop” solutions, and employing AI-powered platforms to personalize benefit recommendations.
