The 2025 Employee Mindset Study marks Alight’s 15th annual report focused on the U.S. workforce, delving into key areas such as employee wellbeing, workplace culture, benefits engagement, total rewards and technology.
This has been a year of great workplace uncertainty due to economic challenges brought about by layoffs, tariffs, rising prices and a volatile stock market. It would be easy to assume workers aren’t necessarily feeling positive about their employee experience — except they are.
77% of workers rate their employee experience positively

However, the overall positive feeling doesn’t necessarily translate into the day-to-day. 39% of workers say they dread starting their workday, compared to 23% in 2020.
Clearly, there is room for improvement.
Workers are looking for their employers to provide direction and assistance for understanding and choosing the right options for their needs. Employers that provide a comprehensive benefits offering, complemented by a full suite of mobile-first platforms with human-centered support, such as coaching and concierge services, will be best-positioned to build a healthy and financially secure workforce — and reap the many advantages that come with it.
